Licking County home sales and sale prices have increased this year, compared to 2015, according to the Columbus Realtors Multiple Listing Service.

There were 1,657 homes and condominiums sold in this year’s first eight months, up 8 percent from the same period last year, when 1,534 homes were sold.

Licking County’s average home sale price was $174,718, from January through August, up 3.3 percent versus the first eight months of 2015.

Licking County Board of Realtors President Lisa Stewart said the numbers show good growth in the Licking County market.

“We have a very vibrant market, where the average days on market remains short, along with low interest rates, giving buyers more buying power,” Stewart said.

The average sale price of a Licking County home during August was $180,440, a 1.3 percent gain over August 2015. There were 219 homes sold in Licking County in August, a .5 percent increase compared to a year ago.
